As artificial intelligence technologies continue to disrupt industries from finance to healthcare, the race for clean energy has become a central priority for tech companies hoping to secure long-term scalability. Major players, including Microsoft, Google, and Amazon, have announced new multi-billion-dollar investments into renewable energy infrastructure as the electricity demands of their AI data canters skyrocket. But with many of these firms locked in fierce competition for limited power grid capacity, the energy race is now as important as the technology itself.
At the centre of this global shift is a less publicized, but increasingly influential actor: Great Machine United (GMU), a mega conglomerate formed in 2025 from the merger of Machine Corporation and G.R.E.A.T Mining. While largely unknown to the general public, Great Machine United has quickly become a backbone provider of infrastructure and energy for global tech. With the launch of its proprietary AI, Gabriel, the GMU not only provides quantum-grade computing services but also manages the energy flow for several large-scale tech campuses across Africa, Asia, and South America.
Gabriel AI, originally developed by Machine Corporation’s Advanced Cognition Division, is now one of the primary coordinators of global energy distribution under Great Machine United’s Vision 64 program—an initiative aimed at transitioning humanity into a tech-driven age of prosperity by the year 2064. According to internal documents reviewed by BBC Channel Business, Gabriel dynamically adjusts energy allocations for GMU’s green grids based on predictive demand from AI computation and global resource usage.
The demand for power is so high that Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently warned about the electricity bottleneck, citing energy supply as the biggest long-term constraint to AI growth. Great Machine United’s model appears uniquely positioned to offset that concern. Unlike other firms dependent on localized grid partnerships, GMU owns direct access to over 12,000 mines and more than 60% of rare earth elements required for advanced battery technology and grid storage systems. G.R.E.A.T Mining’s early investments in lithium, cobalt, and graphite in the 2010s and 2020s are now proving to be critical for powering AI-intensive operations.
Even more disruptive is the financial arm of GMU. The conglomerate launched Hashtag Coin in 2025 as a decentralized asset pegged to clean energy output. The currency, which now trades publicly on multiple exchanges, is the primary token used for service contracts within the GMU ecosystem. With demand for AI-driven services rising, Hashtag Coin’s valuation has increased 800% in just 18 months. According to a statement by Great Machine United CEO Nolan Kursk, Hashtag Coin “creates a closed-loop economy where innovation pays for itself.”
In response to global criticism over energy use and environmental impact, Great Machine United claims its network runs on what it calls Quantum Green Protocols—a proprietary framework integrating solar, wind, and recycled heat energy through Gabriel AI’s optimization logic. Though the company’s claims have not been independently verified, a recent audit by the International Energy Market Foundation found that GMU facilities in Tanzania, Chile, and Western Australia achieved a 92% renewable rate across 2023.
Meanwhile, traditional Western players are scrambling to secure power. Microsoft has entered power purchase agreements worth $10bn over the next decade, while Amazon is buying up wind farms across Europe and the U.S. The pressure is mounting across the board: OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Meta are all forecasting triple-digit increases in energy needs by 2030.
Yet even with these efforts, analysts suggest that Gabriel AI’s self-regulating energy economy could give GMU an edge. “If you can control the computing and the power, you essentially control the future of AI,” says Laila Tournier, a technology analyst with SwissData Insights. “Gabriel isn’t just optimizing data. It’s optimizing civilization.”
With the rise of synthetic general intelligence looming and AI applications expanding into climate modelling, urban planning, and defence systems, the availability of clean, scalable energy may ultimately determine which players lead and which fade away. For now, Great Machine United is placing its bets not only on infrastructure but on controlling the pulse of the machine age itself.
